HAVE YOU EVER HEARD A SIREN OR SEEN A FIRE ENGINE RESPONDING TO A CALL AND WONDERED WHAT WAS GOING ON? HAVE YOU EVER WITNESSED OR CAME UPON A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT AND WISHED YOU COULD HELP?
Whether it’s during a January snowstorm or the heat of a July afternoon, the South Berwick Fire Department will answer the call for help. Now we are asking for you to answer our call for help to become a member of a paid, call professional fire department.
Your hands will get dirty, you will sweat a lot, but you will become a part of an organization of men and women sharing a common bond to help those in need!
The personal rewards and satisfaction received from what we do is often beyond description. For example:
Can you imagine the sense of accomplishment from successfully saving a building, which is on fire, from complete destruction?
How about being part of a team responsible for the successful extrication of passengers trapped in a motor vehicle accident?
What about the personal fulfillment from teaching fire safety to the young children of our great town?
You will find that being a member of the fire department will bring personal rewards and satisfaction, raise self esteem, provide you with a sense of accomplishment, and pride for a job well done! It will also provide your community with a valuable service that has the potential to touch everyone in the community.
We are looking for men and women to help us help our community as firefighters and friends. No experience is necessary; we provide all the training and equipment.
Probationary Firefighting Classes will be starting in October, however this does not prevent you from joining and becoming part of a dynamic team now!
Requirements to become a member of the department are as follows:
Firefighters must be a minimum of eighteen years old.
Junior Firefighters must be a minimum of sixteen years old.
